Book and Sleep over

It was an exciting and busy day for our Grade 2 students as we celebrated International Book Day in the most memorable way! The children arrived at school dressed as their favorite book characters, filling the classrooms with color, creativity, and imagination.

From brave heroes to magical creatures, each costume told a story and reflected their love for reading.

A highlight of the day was listening to the inspiring author and illustrator Satoshi Kitamura

The students were captivated as he shared his creative process, stories behind his books, and encouraged everyone to explore their own ideas through drawing and storytelling. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with a real author and artist.

As the day continued, excitement grew even more as students prepared for the evening sleepover at school.

After heading home briefly, they returned with their overnight bags, ready for a night of fun, games, and bonding with friends. Laughter echoed through the halls as they enjoyed storytelling, activities, and a cozy night together.

It was truly a special day filled with imagination, inspiration, and unforgettable memories.

Celebrating Our Journey Through Space

A Stellar Assembly Performance

As our unit, “Earth is surrounded by space and is part of a complex universe,” comes to a close, our learners marked this incredible journey with a truly memorable assembly performance.

It was a moment of pride, reflection, and celebration as students shared their understanding with the whole school community.

The assembly showcased the knowledge and curiosity that have grown throughout the unit. Students confidently presented information about the planets, explaining their unique characteristics and positions within the solar system. They also introduced other fascinating celestial bodies such as stars, comets, and asteroids, demonstrating a deeper understanding of how everything in space is interconnected.

Through creative performances, expressive scripts, and vibrant costumes, the learners brought the solar system to life on stage. Each presentation reflected not only their research but also their communication skills and teamwork.

One of the most touching highlights of the assembly was the song dedicated to Earth—our home. With heartfelt voices, students reminded everyone of the importance of caring for our planet.

The lyrics emphasized simple yet powerful actions we can all take, such as conserving water, reducing waste, and protecting living things. It was a beautiful reminder that while Earth is just one small part of a vast universe, it is the only place we call home.

This culminating event was more than just a performance; it was a celebration of learning, creativity, and responsibility.

As our students take their final bow on this unit, they carry with them not only knowledge about space but also a deeper appreciation for Earth and their role in helping it thrive.

Stars in The Making

Our classroom has been buzzing with excitement as we prepare for our upcoming assembly! The students have been working hard behind the scenes, bringing creativity and teamwork to life through costume-making and script practice.

One of the most exciting parts has been designing and creating costumes inspired by different celestial bodies. From shimmering stars to glowing planets, students used a variety of materials to make their ideas come alive. This hands-on activity not only sparked their imagination but also helped them take ownership of their roles.

At the same time, students have been enthusiastically practicing their lines for the play. They focused on using clear voices, expressive actions, and confident delivery. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they rehearse and support one another.

In addition to performance preparation, students have been busy recording their research about the celestial body of their choice. They gathered interesting facts and transformed them into informative and engaging scripts. This process allowed them to deepen their understanding while learning how to communicate information clearly.

Through this experience, students are not only preparing for a performance but also developing creativity, collaboration, and communication skills. We are excited to see all their hard work shine on assembly day!
